Why Skin Food is the best moisturizer. 😍

If you’re on a healing journey, or just trying to live toxin-free, you are going to want Skin Food.

Not only does Skin Food make my skin feel amazing and keep it hydrated, it’s also supporting me on my hormone-balancing journey by helping me live toxin-free. I’m absolutely in love with this product, and I know you will be too!

Most lotions, deodorants, shampoos, soaps, and body care products (even those that claim to be natural) contain synthetic chemicals and fragrances (also known as endocrine disrupters or xenoestrogens) that mimic estrogen or interfere with hormone production.

This can cause hormonal imbalances which contribute to weight gain, acne, hair loss, increased anxiety, reproductive issues, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. 😱

On my journey to balance my hormones, I ghosted every product with a long list of ingredients or ingredients I didn’t understand—which was every moisturizer, serum, deodorant, shampoo, and conditioner I owned. Then, I had to find non-toxic alternatives.

Do you know how difficult it is to find all-natural products that are 100% free of added ingredients or chemicals? It’s harder than I thought. That’s why I’m so excited to introduce you to Skin Food and tell you all the reasons why I love this product.

4 reasons why I love Skin Food.

-01- Natural, non-toxic ingredients.

Grass Fed Tallow (from cows on regenerative pastures)

Tallow is an excellent moisturizer due to its high content of saturated fats, vitamins A, D, K, and E, and essential fatty acids that help restore the skin barrier, improving moisture retention and promoting a healthy complexion. It closely resembles the natural oils produced by our skin making it highly effective for hydration, while promoting skin barrier function and elasticity. Tallow also has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin, making it suitable for people with sensitive skin or skin conditions like dermatitis, psoriasis, dry skin, and even wounds. Skin Food tallow is also made from cows on regenerative farms that aim to restore and enhance the health of soil, ecosystems, and communities.

Avocado oil

Avocado oil is a versatile and nourishing ingredient for skin care that offers a multitude of benefits. Rich in vitamins A, D, and E, as well as essential fatty acids, it deeply moisturizes and hydrates the skin, promoting a soft and smooth texture. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help to calm irritated skin and reduce redness. Additionally, avocado oil helps to strengthen the skin's barrier, lock in moisture, and support natural healing processes.

Coconut oil

I’ve been using coconut oil as a natural body lotion for years! It’s rich in medium-chain fatty acids, which help hydrate and nourish the skin, making it an effective treatment for dryness. Its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties can also aid in preventing infections and acne breakouts. Additionally, coconut oil can serve as a soothing agent for minor irritations or sunburn.

Golden Jojoba Oil

I’ve also been using Jojoba oil in my homemade essential oil lotion for years. Jojoba oil is derived from the seeds of the jojoba plant and is renowned for its versatile benefits in skincare and hair care. It’s rich in vitamins E and B, and it’s non-comedogenic, making it suitable for acne-prone skin. It’s also known for soothing inflammation, and reducing redness and irritation.

Essential oils

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that capture the natural fragrance and beneficial properties of a variety of botanicals. Unlike traditional perfumes, which often contain synthetic chemicals and additives, essential oils provide a more natural alternative. They also possess properties that can promote relaxation, uplift mood, and create a sense of well-being.

-02- My skin looks and feels amazing.

My personal experience using this tallow-based product over the last year has been nothing but positive. My skin feels nourished, hydrated, and softer than ever. I never feel greasy, and my skin hasn’t started producing more oils since using it either. My acne has improved. This skin rash I used to get on my chin has completely stopped. I don’t feel like my wrinkles have gotten any worse over the last year either, honestly, I think my skin looks younger. I even stopped wearing foundation because I actually feel good in my own skin. I feel like my skin tone has improved as well.

-03- I enjoy using the product.

I look forward to washing and moisturizing my face, every day. I love the smell and the texture of Skin Food. It feels amazing on my skin, therapeutic even. As I massage it in I swear I can feel it absorbing. I also love that a little goes a long way. I bought a 2.0 oz container in May, and I’m only halfway through it in mid-October.

-04- It’s ancestral.

Ancestrally, tallow served as a vital resource for both nourishment and utility. Tallow has a long history of use in the production of soaps and lotions, dating back to ancient civilizations. This multifaceted substance reflects the resourcefulness and sustainability practiced by our ancestors, who utilized every part of the animal to enhance their survival and quality of life. Today, tallow continues to gain attention for its natural properties and sustainability, as it aligns with a holistic approach to beauty and self-care.

In conclusion.

Hormonal imbalances are becoming increasingly prevalent in today's society. While many factors contribute to that, one of the most common ways we are exposed to hormone-altering chemicals is through the products we use daily. Replacing toxic products with non-toxic alternatives is a really great way to support your health, and Skin Food is a win-win. It’s perfect for people who are on a healing journey, trying to live toxin-free, or just want to use more natural products.

FAQs

  • Beef tallow is a rendered form of beef fat that has been used for centuries in cooking, baking, and preservation. • A regenerative farm is a type of agricultural operation that aims to restore and enhance the health of soil, ecosystems, and communities. This approach goes beyond traditional sustainable farming practices by actively promoting biodiversity, improving soil organic matter, and sequestering carbon. Regenerative farming techniques may include crop rotation, cover cropping, agroforestry, and holistic livestock management, all designed to create resilient and productive systems. By focusing on the long-term health of the land and its ability to support life, regenerative farms contribute to food security and environmental sustainability while fostering a deeper connection between people and nature.

  • Use it like any other face moisturizer, or skin lotion.

I use it in the morning, and at night after I wash my face. I apply a small amount to my finger and dab a little on my forehead, cheeks, and chin before I begin to massage it in. Then I massage it into my skin until it's all absorbed and my skin feels smooth.

  • It really doesn't, as long as you don't put too much on. BUT, even if you do put too much on, all you have to do is continue to massage it into your skin. It will absorb!

  • It hasn't for me! And even if I have a few pimples, it has never made them worse. I actually feel like it has soothed them and helped shrink them, to be honest.
